Cybersecurity Lab Series
Lab 6: Threats & Vulnerabilities
Put your knowledge of vulnerabilities and threats into action. Analyze a security incident using SQL and research a real-world vulnerability to understand its impact and mitigation strategies.
📋 Lab Overview
This lab focuses on putting your knowledge of vulnerabilities and threats into action. You will use your understanding of SQL to analyze a simulated security incident and then research a real-world vulnerability to understand its impact and mitigation.
✅ Upon completion of this lab, you will be able to:
- Formulate a simple SQL query to retrieve data for a security investigation
- Identify and research a specific, well-known software vulnerability
- Explain the technical details and real-world impact of a vulnerability
- Propose initial mitigation steps for a known vulnerability
📦 Materials & Prerequisites:
- A web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
- Access to db-fiddle.com (free, no account required)
- Internet access for vulnerability research
- A method to capture screenshots (built-in OS tools or screenshot software)
- A word processor for your final submission (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.)
Lab complete! You have analyzed a security incident using SQL and researched a real-world vulnerability — critical skills for threat detection and mitigation.
